Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange info between a hosting server and a client. As the information exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a 3rd party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of controlling a website hosting account. The commands which could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, in particular, the choices are limited because you won't have root access to the hosting server, so you could just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. These are all actions that are executed inside the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or only a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, and if you don't employ a UNIX-like OS, there are tons of apps for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.
SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
When you have a cloud hosting
account with us and you want to handle your content remotely using SSH, you can easily receive SSH access to the account through your Hepsia Control Panel. If your plan does not come with this feature by default, you may add it with a couple of clicks from the Upgrades menu. Within the SSH section of the CP, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you should use when you connect to the account. You could also pick what password you would like to use, as it doesn't need to be the same as the one for the account. We've prepared several Help articles in which you could find all of the commands you will be able to use with a shared hosting package, as well as examples of how they are used. Additionally, if SSH access is permitted for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection using a standard client such as FileZilla, for instance.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You shall be able to connect to your semi-dedicated server
account using SSH no matter which package you select when you sign up. With some plans, the function is offered by default, while with others, it may be included as and additional upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll discover the necessary login information within the Hepsia CP, included with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You could pick the password that you will use and if you would like, you could change it all the time with a few clicks for even higher security. You will be able to see all the commands which you can use upfront, since we have listed them all together with examples of how they are used so as to execute a particular task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is allowed, you'll be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.
SSH Telnet in VPS Hosting
You shall be able to use SSH to handle your content regardless of which Linux VPS hosting packages
you select when you sign up, because all our packages come with this function as standard. You'll not have to include or activate anything manually - as soon as your hosting server is prepared and you get the Welcome e-mail with the login details, you could connect and start working on your websites or any software that you'd like to install and run on the server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and because the account shall be isolated from all of the other accounts inside the physical server, you will be able to do anything you would like with no restrictions. You'll be able to set up any app you require and that shall run on a Linux-based web server, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and handle your files and databases fast and easy.
